A shocking revelation has emerged, casting a shadow over Katie Porter's campaign for California Governor. The front-runner, known for her fiery demeanor, is now at the center of a domestic dispute that has many questioning her suitability for office.
According to court records, Porter allegedly unleashed a torrent of abuse on her ex-husband, Matthew Hoffman, years ago. In a fit of rage, she is said to have called him a "f***ing idiot" and even dumped hot mashed potatoes on him, causing burns to his scalp.
But here's where it gets controversial...
The couple's relationship took a turn for the worse, leading to a series of domestic violence restraining orders. Hoffman claimed Porter routinely belittled him, calling him "f***ing incompetent" and smashing a glass coffee pot in anger.
In one incident, Hoffman alleges Porter lost her temper over the preparation of mashed potatoes, shouting, "Can't you read the f***ing instructions?!" She then allegedly threw a bowl of hot potatoes at him, leaving him with burns.
And this is the part most people miss...
Hoffman also accused Porter of controlling behavior, claiming she refused to let him have a cell phone, saying he was "too f***ing dumb to operate it."
In her request for a restraining order, Porter described a different version of events. She claimed Hoffman grabbed and squeezed her hands, calling her a "deaf f***ing bitch." He then allegedly destroyed a light switch and threw dental floss on the ground.
The recent resurfacing of these allegations comes after Porter's own temper tantrum during an on-camera interview. In a clip that went viral, she shouted at a staffer, "Get out of my f***ing shot," during a 2021 Zoom interview with then-Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm.
So, the question remains: Can a candidate with such a volatile temper be trusted to lead one of the most populous states in the nation?
